Meet Adrienn Meza, Your Online Tutor

I’m Adrienn Meza, a passionate dyslexia tutor dedicated to helping students discover their confidence and potential as readers.

My journey into this work started with my own children, whom I homeschooled from preschool all the way to high school graduation. Over more than 20 years of teaching—both in my home and through various co-ops—I found that I connected deeply with kids who didn’t quite “fit in the box,” and I loved meeting them where they were to help them thrive.

But it was during the pandemic, as I shifted to online tutoring, that I realized some students just weren’t “getting it” in traditional ways. This experience lit a spark in me to find different approaches to reach every student. I began researching and came across dyslexia resources, including the Barton Reading and Spelling System, which opened my eyes to the unique ways dyslexic students learn.

As I studied, I realized my own daughter, sister, and nephew had dyslexic traits, and this personal connection deepened my commitment to help families navigate what can often feel like an overwhelming journey.

At first, I faced doubts—English is my second language, having moved to the U.S. from Hungary at 19. Could I truly master this material to make an impact? But I focused on one student at a time, determined to give my best. Over time, my confidence grew.

Today, I continually pursue training, seminars, and the latest dyslexia research to bring my students proven strategies that empower them to succeed. Books like Overcoming Dyslexia by Sally Shaywitz and programs from the IDEA community have been instrumental in strengthening my skills and helping me grow as a tutor.

Now, my mission is clear: to help each student I meet see that they can learn to read confidently—even if it takes time. I want my students and their families to feel supported and empowered, knowing that overcoming dyslexia is possible. I’m here to equip them not just with reading skills, but with the self-advocacy tools they’ll carry for life.
